Official name of Worcester Cathedral is the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Mary the Virgin, of Worcester. One of the kings of England, John, is buried in the Cathedral. He was a king in the years 1199-1216.
The cathedral gained its current shape in the years 1084-1504 . Architecturally is a mixture of styles. Contains old Norman elements like the crypt, but also a lot of Gothic elements. I’m not a great expert in architecture, but I must admit that this cathedral makes a huge impression. We spent about 2 hours taking photos there and we haven’t even been to the tower yet.
My attention was drawn to the beautiful painted ceilings, stained-glass and the cloisters and the garden in between. We were also able to see the chapter house from the inside. My next visit must necessarily include entering the tower. In the next post you will find more pictures of the cathedral inside.
